New regulations will help stamp out illegal residency
Abu Dhabi, July 28, 2008 (WAM) - The new ministerial resolution that amends regulations of the foreigners' entry '&' residency law will go into effect Tuesday.
"The resolution has created 16 types of visas with the aim ofstamping out illegal residency," Brigadier Nasser Al Awadhi Al Minahli, acting director of Abu Dhabi Naturalisation '&' Residency Department, told reporters today.
Al Minhali predicted that by next December, the UAE will befree of illegal residents.
"The new regulations provides for different levels of medical insurance with each type of visa. No visa shall be issued without medical insurance or without the Dh1,000 deposit which will be refunded at the end of the visit,"Al Minhali said.
Al Minhali spoke in details about the different types of visas, includingshort term and long term visit visas.
According to him the multiple six-month visas will allow visitor to stay fora maximum period of 14 days on each visit.
Other categories include a study visa, medical treatment visa, events visa, which is designed for those who wish to attend conferences and exhibitionsin the country, and a one-month tourist visa, renewable for similar period.
The sponsor of tourist visa should be a public or private entity that is engaged in tourism business. The tourist company will have to pay Dh75,000 to the Government when opening the agency and a temporary deposit of Dh1,000 for every tourist visa. Al Minhali noted that UAE ambassadors and consulscan grant a one-month visa to the VIPs and other suitable persons.
