Funeral of late Energy Minister held

(KPL) - A funeral ceremony of Dr Borsaikham Vongdara, late member of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee, and Minister of Energy and Mining, took place at Thebnimith That Foun temple, Vientiane Capital, on 27 July 2008.

The four-day mourning of Dr Bosaikham drew the Party and Government leaders to pay tribute to his body at the Prime Minister's Office which included General Secretary of the LPRP CC Executive Board and President Choummaly Sayasone, a Politburo member and President of the National Assembly Thongsing Thammavong and a Politburo member and Premier Bouasone Bouphavanh respectively, and other representatives from ministries and relevant agencies.

Reading the obituaries to the funeral was Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Mme Onechanh Thammavong who recalled Dr Borsaikham Vongdara's soul and his great contribution to the national construction and defence, so far.

Dr Borsaikham passed away on 24 July, after he had fallen ill, theauthorities concerned and his family, and the teams of domestic and foreign doctors have exerted their utmost capacity to the treatment to save his life. Regrettably, due to his serious illness, he departed in the morning of 24 July.

He was born on 15 April 1948, at Phonsavanh village, Paek district,Xiengkhouang province, to Mr Khambor Vongdara and Mrs Vansy Vongvichith. He married with Mrs Vankham Vongdara and had two children.

Dr Borsaikham joined the revolutionary movement in 1974, became a Party member in 1980.

All of his life, he dedicated to the revolutionary task and became an outstanding member of the Party in the implementation of the nationaldefence and construction to lead the nation and people to prosperity.
