Production begins at Golden Tuna oilfield

Hanoi (VNA) - The Hoan Vu Joint Operating Company ( HVJOC) reported that its commercial production had begun at the Ca Ngu Vang (Golden Tuna) oilfield off Vietnam 's southern coast.

The production, started four days ago, was seen as an important event, marking the successful cooperation of three oil companies, the PetroVietnam Exploration Production Co., the UK-based Soco Vietnam Ltd., and Thailand 's PTTEP Hoanvu Co. Ltd., the company said.

This is the first project in Vietnam to use available equipment at the operating Bach Ho (White Tiger) oilfield to bring oil and gas from the Ca Ngu Vang ashore to minimise the production cost.

The Ca Ngu Vang oilfield was found in October 2002 at Block 9-2 in the Cuu Long basin, around 140 km off the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

It is expected to turn out 10,000-20,000 barrels of crude oil and 25-50million cu.m of gas daily.
