Russian Pres to meet with children from China's Sichuan province.

MOSCOW, July 30 (Itar-Tass) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev isexpected to meet Wednesday with a group of children from China's Sichuan province, which lived through a devastating earthquake in May.

The meeting with 45 Chinese school children, who arrived in Moscow Tuesday from the Orlyonok all-Russia Children's Holidaymaking Centers inthe southern Krasnodar territory, will take place in the Kremlin.

The group will have an expansive sightseeing program in Moscow with tours to major museums, Red Square, and the World War II memorial compoundon the Poklonny Hill.

The Chinese children, whose age varies from eight to thirteen yearsold, came to Orlyonok July 19.

They had a nice opportunity to enjoy themselves bathing in the Black Sea, where the water temperature stood at an average 26 degrees Celsius atthe height of this summer season.

"We do hope that the southern sun, the tender Black Sea and our hospitality will warm up the hearts of Chinese boys and girls after the shock of that earthquake," Krasnodar territory governor Alexander Tkachovsaid.

"It's a great honor for us to host them in one of Russia's best summerholiday centers for children," he said.

All in all, more than a thousand Chinese children have already had vacations or continue having them in six Russian regions - the Far-Eastern Primorsky /Maritime/ territory, the Kemerovo, Omsk and Nososibirsk regions and the Krasnoyarsk territory in Siberia, as well as the Krasnodarterritory.

Local administrations and the federal Ministry of Education and Science have organized health rehabilitation programs, sightseeing tours,hikes, and sports events for them everywhere.

Medvedev issued an invitation to Chinese school students to come toRussia when he made a visit to China in May.

About a thousand children from Sichuan, Gansu and Shaanxi provincesleft for Russia July 17.

Before the departure, they had a meeting with Chinese President Hu Jintao, who said Russia had held out a helping hand right at the very hardmoment.

Hu said the Chinese were thankful to the Russian leadership and peoplefor the support given in the aftermath of the earthquake.

He expressed the hope that the children's trip to Russian holiday centers will further strengthen friendship between the two countries and their contacts with young Russians will help hand down the friendlyfeelings to future generations.

This fact prompted Hu to call the children "the little ambassadors of friendship." -0-kle
