Russia, India set up council of company directors

NEW DELHI, July 30 (Itar-Tass) - "Captains" of Russian and Indian business have completed the establishment of a council of companydirectors, which is expected to contribute to the development of business ties between the two countries.

"India has already named its representatives. A final approval of the composition of India's part of the Council is due in early August. It will be led by prominent Indian entrepreneur Mukesh Ambani, one of the richest persons of the planet and head of the country's largest industrial conglomerate Reliance Industries Ltd, with an annual turnover worth 36 billion dollars.

The Russian part of the Council is led by chairman of the board of AFK Sistema Vladimir Yevtushenkov. The Russian part of the Council comprises 11 leading business people.

The significance of the new form of Russian-Indian interaction isunderscored by the attention paid to it by the leaders of the two states. Last week, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh received for a talk Vladimir Yevtushenkov, who passed to him a message from Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin concerning trade and economic relations between the two countries. The head f the Indian government expressed his support to future activities of the Council.

Vladimir Yevtushenkov briefed Manmohan Singh on the corporation'sstrategic plans on the Indian market. AFK Sistema by right can be viewed as a locomotive in the solution of the tasks to expand investment and scientific-technological cooperation between the two countries, which has been developing actively both in the state and private sectors in the recent time.

The corporation plans to invest more than 5 billion dollars in India's telecommunications within the next there to four years.

In particular, works are underway to field telecommunications networks in the state of Rajasthan and other regions of the country.

In the course of the talk, the parties considered possibilities of joint development of microelectronics, the construction of centers forcontrol of emergency situations, and the launching of modern technologies using the GLONASS satellite navigation system.

They expressed readiness to actively cooperate with the ministry of science and technologies, and develop India's oceanic resources in implementing a number of projects in the field of latest generationmicrochips, three-D navigation charts and other innovative products.
