Russo-Chinese joint venture begins gold prospecting in Kolyma.
YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK, July 31 (Itar-Tass) - A first Russo-Chinese joint venture, Geocenter, established in Kolyma has begun gold prospecting at the Igumenovskoye gold deposit in the Tenkinsky district.
Councillor to the Magadan governor Inna Kudziyeva said that the overall territory of the Igumenovskoye deposit is 50 square kilometers with an estimated gold reserve of around 100 tons.
A Chinese mining corporation based in Heilongjiang is a co-founder of the joint venture. Its director general said at a ceremony of opening the joint venture that the first Russo- Chinese joint project in the field of development of land resources aroused a strong interest among Chinese industrial companies.
A Gold Mill of the Igumenovskoe deposit was built within a recordshort time. The present task of the joint gold prospecting venture is to estimate a real percentage of gold available in the ore of the deposit.
The Gold Mill's processing capacity is around 150,000 tons of ore peryear. In 2008 the joint venture is planned to produce 200 kilograms of gold and in the following year gold production is expected to grow to 500 kilograms. The design capacity of the Gold Mill is 1,000 kilograms of gold per year.
