Message of NAM FMs' Conference worth serious int'l attention - Envoy to Tokyo

Tokyo, Aug 2, IRNA - Iran's Ambassador to Japan assessed here Friday as "very significant and precious" holding 15th NAM Foreign Ministers Conference in Tehran and their support declaration for Iran's nuclear rights.

Abbas Araqchi said in an interview with IRNA, "Merely the hosting of
the Non Aligned Movement (NAM) Conference, that is a reputable
international movement with 118 member countries at the Islamic
Republic of Iran is of great importance, and on the same basis, the
declaration issued by that Movement in support of Iran's nuclear right is worth serious attention of the International community."

Araqchi added, "On the other hand, the fact that the NAM countries
decide to hold their foreign minsters conference in the Islamic
Republic of Iran and attend it at a high quality and quantity, is
proof that the US efforts aimed at segregating Tehran has been, and is
doomed to defeat."
He reiterated, "The Islamic Republic of Iran enjoys a great political
and economic status at the international scene and no one can ignore
neither Iran's role, nor its power, but rather, various countries
welcome cooperation and broad international interactions with Iran."
He said, "The other point worth pondering is that 118 countries around
the globe declared their support for Iran's peaceful nuclear program,
which is strong proof for the fact that the US and few eastern
countries' claim that Iran's nuclear program is despite the world
nations' opposition is a big lie."
Pointing out that the international community is a great concept,
Araqchi added, "Out of 196 countries in the world 118 are NAM members,
and when they support Iran's nuclear program unconditionally this
means that the US and those few EU countries have a different concept
of the international community, that they need to elaborate for these
118 countries."
He added, "In addition to that, many non-NAM member countries, too,
are not opposed to Iran's peaceful nuclear program."

The Iranian envoy reiterated, "The US and those few EU countries that
claim to speak on behalf of the international community try to impose
their ideas against the world nations, and speak on behalf of them
without being entitled to the right to do so by world nations."
