'CRAYON' FIRST M'SIAN FILM TO BE RELEASED IN LOS ANGELES

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 (Bernama) -- 'Crayon' a movie produced by a local film
maker will become the first ever Malaysian-made movie to be released in Los
Angeles, California, United States on Nov 4.

The director and producer of the movie, Dean A. Burhanuddin said, the movie was
his own creation and produced under the Zioss Film Production.

"This is the first time I produced a movie. Before this I had worked as a script
writer for an American studio. I am so happy and proud to release the uniqueness
of the movie 'Crayon' compared with other movies," he told reporters after the
movie's premier here Tuesday.

He said, the movie was produced in several languages and it showed the reality
of Malaysian daily routine.

"To me what is important is to see that the viewers are enjoying it," he said.

Dean said the genre of the movie is more to drama, family and adventure.

"It is a simple film of hope and truth governed by the dramatization of everyday life, feeling.. funny or sad and has its ups and downs just like in real life, it is not a commercial movie to make money," he said.

He said, the movie was about two friends finding out the true meaning of friendship and unity when they become volunteers at an orphanage.

"The entire process took one year where we had a very short pre-production of three months followed by a month of shooting and lastly six months of post production.

"The location of the movie centres around Kuala Lumpur, Melaka and
Singapore," he said.

Dean said, about 20 per cent of the proceeds from ticket sales would be donated to orphanages in Malaysia, namely Rumah Ozanam Petaling Jaya, Rumah Kasih Harmoni Sungai Buloh and Nur Hikmah, Selayang.

The movie 'Crayon' will be released in local cinemas (GSC, TGV, Cathay and Star) on Nov 11 while further details are available at www.crayonthemovie.com website.
