Nelson to visit US, United Kingdom

Liberal leader Brendan Nelson will take his listening tour global next week when he visits the United States and the United Kingdom for talks on economics, security and climate change.

Dr Nelson said discussions in both countries would focus on global economic uncertainty, international security challenges and Australia's response to climate change.

The 10-day trip comes at a time when Dr Nelson is facing fresh speculation over his
future as Liberal leader.
While in London, Dr Nelson plans to meet senior officials from the Bank of England
and other senior banking executives, as well as corporate leaders to discuss global
financial matters and the ongoing fallout from the US credit crisis.
He also plans to meet with key figures within the British government and the
opposition Conservative Party.
Dr Nelson will then travel to New York where he plans to hold talks with key
representatives from US financial markets and institutions, and with several
business leaders who have links to Australia.
He will also visit Washington where he plans to meet leading Democratic and
Republican politicians.
