ILHAM ALIYEV OFFICIALLY NOMINATED YAP`s PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE

Baku, august 02,(AzerTAj)Azerbaijan`s ruling New Azerbaijan Party, YAP, has nominated incumbent President Ilham Aliyev as its presidential candidate for the October 15 election at its 4th congress at the Sports and Concert Complex after Heydar Aliyev.
The congress` participants rose in a standing ovation as Ilham Aliyev, Chairman of the party, entered the venue on Saturday.
In his keynote speech, the President spoke of history of YAP`s founding and the role the party has been playing in the country`s life since then. He also stressed historical contributions of the party`s founder, nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev to
Azerbaijan`s overall development. Ilham Aliyev expressed gratitude to the party`s members for nominating him as a presidential candidate, and vowed to continue making every effort towards “strengthening Azerbaijan`s independence, ensuring the country`s national interests,
and serving the Azerbaijani people, native land with dignity.”
Other speakers at the event included Murtuz Alasgarov, YAP`s Deputy Chairman; Mahmud Karimov, President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences; Anar Khalilov, an IDP from Shusha; Huseyin Hashimli, Prorector of the Nakhchivan State University;
Gulchohra Mammadova, Rector of the Azerbaijan Architecture and Construction University; Sudeif Imamverdiyev, Head of Department of Urology at the Azerbaijan Medical University; Aygun Allahverdiyeva, member of the board of directors of the YAP Youth Union Nasimi regional branch; Fazil Maharramov, honored teacher of Tovuz.
