ACMS TAPS INDIAN SKILLS TO PROMOTE ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE STUDIES
P. VIJIAN
NEW DELHI, Nov 23 (Bernama) -- ACMS, the Penang-based Allianze College of
Medical Sciences, plans to start alternative medicine courses next year by
teaming up with Indian institutions.
"ACMS will offer more medical and allied health sciences programmes in 2011
and will start diploma and degree programmes on alternative complementary
medicine," its executive chairman, Dr Zainuddin Wazir, said Tuesday.
This will include homeopathy, ayuverda, herbal and natural medicines, he
told Bernama in Delhi. Focusing on India would be part of the ACMS overseas
expansion plan in 2011, after tying up with Indian medical institutes such as
the Mumbai-based Dr DY Patil University.
"We are exploring the possibility of working with a few medical education
institutions in India. Currently about 40 of our lecturers are from India, and
more will be recruited in the near future," Zainuddin said.
Dr Zainuddin is in India with a Perlis delegation led by Crown Prince Tuanku
Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, who is president of ACMS.
He said that ACMS, which was established in 2002, is planning to increase
the number of foreign students especially from India, China and Pakistan.
