ACCSQ-Automotive Product Working Group meets in Vientiane

(KPL) - The 8th ASEAN Consultative Committee on Standards and Quality
Automotive Product Working Group meeting was held here yesterday.
Attending the function were Director General, Department of Industry,
Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Mr. Vang Phommasack, Director of Land Transport Equipment and Aerospace Affairs Industries, Malaysia Ministry of Industry, Mr. Syarif Hidayat and concerned officials from ASEAN member countries.

The automobile industry in Laos has just started from the beginning point
with the assembly of motorcycles and used cars like autos and small trucks,
said at the meeting Mr. Vang Phommasack.
Since 1997 the Ministry of Industry and Commerce has tried to play its role
in ASEAN activities such as ACCSQ Working Group, said Mr Vang.
During the last few years, Laos has tried to seek some data and information
from ASEAN member states as well as international sources for studying and
formulating the drafts of technical regulations and national standards.
