FISHERIES DEPT TO DISPLAY 15 NEW DISCOVERIES AT MAHA 2010

LUMUT (Malaysia), Nov 24 (Bernama) – More than 15 new discoveries in the
fishery fields by experts and researchers in the Malaysian Fisheries Department
will be showcased at the 2010 Malaysian Agriculture and Horticulture Exhibition
in Serdang next week.

Director of Research, Development, Commercialisation and Innovation at the
Fisheries Research Institute Dr Mohd Taupek Mohd Nasir said the discoveries
would be displayed to enable the people to see closer the results of the
research and studies that had been carried out.

"In conjunction with the MAHA programme, the institute will highlight 15 of
the study results which had been successfully carried out by the experts and
researchers in the department," he told Bernama Tuesday.

"We hope the study results will also be used by the people so that they have
the opportunity to get considerable returns from the fishing industry," he said.

He said most of the discoveries had not been commercialised yet and the
department was willing to share on the results of the research with those who
were interested.
