RUSSIA AMONG 13 COUNTRIES TAKING PART IN LANGKAWI INTERNATIONAL JUNIOR TENNIS

LANGKAWI (Kedah, Malaysia), Dec 2 (Bernama) -- Russia will be sending a junior
tennis team to Malaysia for the first time to take part in the Langkawi Geopark
International Junior Tennis tournament from Dec 10-14.

Tournament director Mohd Edham Mohd Nazri said Russia would be among 13
countries to have confirmed their participation in the 13th edition of the
tournament.

He added that the Russian team is expected to compete in the four categories -
Under-10, Under-12, Under-14, Under-16 boys and girls categories - competed in
the tournament to be held at the Langkawi Sports Complex.

Other countries competing in the tournament are Singapore who are sending the
biggest team for the tournament with 31 players, Thailand (24), Turkmenistan
(21), South Korea (15), South Africa (14), Sri Lanka (5), Philippines (5),
Kazakhstan (3), Tajikistan (8), Kyrgzistan (9) and Uzbekistan (6).

He told Bernama that about 200 local and foreign players would be competing in
the tournament organised by the Tennis Association of Langkawi, Lembaga
Pembangunan Langkawi (Lada/Langkawi Development Board) and Kedah Lawn Tennis
Association.
