Commander of Vostok battalion put on fed wanted list-minister

GROZNY, August 7 (Itar-Tass) - Commander of the Vostok (East)
battalion Sulim Yamadayev has been put on the federal wanted list, Chechen
Interior Minister Ruslan Alkhanov said at a meeting with President of the
republic Ramzan Kadyrov on Wednesday with reference to information of the
Investigative Committee under the Russian Prosecutor's Office department
for the Chechen republic.
"We have materials testifying to his involvement in the abduction of
people and other grave crimes," Alkhanov noted.
The Chechen investigative department said that on May 4 this year, the
Gudermes inter-district investigative department opened a criminal cases
under Article 105 part one of the Russian Criminal Code ("murder") against
a group of persons with Sulim Yamadayev in the head. They are accused of
murdering a local resident.
Ramzan Kadyrov said for his part that he had "no claims to the Vostok
battalion, there are claims to separate individuals." "I have never called
for dissolution of the Vostok and Zapad (West) battalions. On the whole
the backbone of the battalion is conscientiously fulfilling its military
duty," said the Chechen president.
