QATAR NEWS AGENCY LAUNCHES KIDS' e-BULLETIN ON ITS WEBSITE

By Nor Faridah Abd Rashid

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 8 (Bernama) -- In efforts to reach out to children in the
Arab world, Qatar News Agency (QNA) has launched a new service, 'qnakids', on
its website to implant constructive and tolerant Arab and Islamic values into
the mind and soul of children.

The service, in Arabic, aims to provide kids and the youth of tomorrow with
today's news, in an easy and interesting style in picture, word and video,
together with fresh and modern electronic games via an advanced and simple
technology, QNA said on its website.

"We are reaching out to the children through such a service as it can be
difficult to get them to read the newspapers nowadays," QNA Foreign Language
News editor Jassim Ahmed Al Hamdi told Bernama here recently.

Furthermore, he said that currently, almost all children owned a computer at
home and it would be easy for them to log on to the website.

"qnakids will be a fun way of learning new things for the children,” he
said.

QNA said it had always been keen to introduce such a news service to implant
constructive and tolerant Arab and Islamic values in children.

The news agency wants to encourage children to learn how best to benefit
from the “modern information and knowledge“ and utilise their talents in all
fields.

The Kids’ e-Bulletin is also aimed at encouraging them to express their
opinions and views freely and openly, as well as raise questions and inquiries
on www.qnakids.com to help the future generation in Qatar and the Arab world
learn the noble Arab and national morals and values, stemming from the true
and correct teachings of Islam.

The service is also aimed at contributing to the constructive and effective
participation in the 21st century civilisation and is part of the agency’s
constant efforts to update its news services in the interest of the local, Arab
and Islamic causes, and all fair causes worldwide in an objective and
professional manner.

According to QNA, it is the first Arab news agency to provide such a
specialised bulletin for kids, which is in addition to its four current
bulletins, namely political, economic, cultural and sports news.
