DRUMMERS MADE IT INTO MALAYSIA BOOK OF RECORDS
KUALA TERENGGANU (Malaysia), Dec 10 (Bernama) -- Drummers from Kelantan,
Pahang and Terengganu partipating in the East Coast Festival here have made it
into the Malaysia Book Of Records.
The 780 drummers entertained the 10,000 crowd with beats from drums
representing the Malays, Chinese, Indians and Orang Asli (aborigines)
communities under conductor Rosli Selasih.
Malaysia Book Of Records founder Danny Ooi presented the certificate
for most participation in traditional drumming to Information Communication and
Culture Minister Dr Rais Yatim soon after the performance.
The festival in Taman Budaya (Cultural Park), Kuala Ibai was jointly opened
by Rais and Terengganu Chief Minister Ahmad Said.
Rais said that the festival would be made an annual event for the east coast
states of Kelantan, Pahang and Terengganu.
"Pahang may host it next year followed by Kelantan. We will also hold a
similar festival in the south and north," he added.
