SANDAKAN, ZAMBOANGA BUSINESS COUNCIL FORMED

SANDAKAN (Sabah, Malaysia), Dec 16 (Bernama) -- In an effort to promote and
encourage investment, tourism and culture, businessmen from Sandakan, in the
east Malaysian state of Sabah and Zamboanga City in Southern Philippines have
formed a business council which will focus on barter trade and other activities.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed here Thursday between the Sandakan
Grocers, Importers, Exporters and Industry Association and the Autonomous Region
of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Business Council to set up the Sandakan, Zamboanga and
ARMM Business Council (SZABC), a statement said Thursday.

The Sandakan association was represented by its chairman, Chai Soon, while
ARMM Business Council Chairman, Rosslaini J. Alonto Sinarimbo, signed on behalf
of his council.

Both parties will appoint their respective committee members to the SZABC,
which is expected to hold an annual general meeting once a year.
