CHILD NURSERY WITH QUALIFIED INSTRUCTORS SHOULD BE SET UP AT WORKPLACE
CYBERJAYA, Dec 18 (Bernama) -- The prime minister's wife, Rosmah Mansor said
child nurseries with qualified instructors should be set up at the workplace to
prevent accidents involving children.
She said reports on accidents involving children in a nursery or
babysitter's house, such as choking on milk or being badly treated, were very
disappointing and should be taken seriously.
"I feel very sad when the children left in a nursery or at the babysitter's
house are not being treated well, and when the children fall sick or choke on
milk, they (nursery staff or babysitters) do not know how to handle it," she
said when opening the Permata Negara Family at Sekolah Seri Puteri, here
Saturday.
Hence, Rosmah called on parents and educators to protect children from any
adverse symptoms in their environment.
"As parents and educators, it is our responsibility to provide protection to our
children because they are too young to be held responsible," she said.
She also expressed gratitude as the Permata Negara programme had been
implemented at nearly 600 childcare centres nationwide and almost 20,000
children under the age of four had benefited from the quality learning process
in a very conducive environment.
Meanwhile, at prime minister's official residence Seri Perdana in Putrajaya,
Rosmah in his speech said starting guiding at a young age, as Brownies, would
help them to foster global friendship.
"You have become ambassadors representing your country at this young age.
Hopefully, you will continue to 'grow' in guiding and become women of caliber
through knowledge gained, skills learnt and inculcation of the good values in
guiding," she said.
Earlier, Rosmah who is also President of Girl Guides Association Malaysia,
received a visit from the participants and officials of the Centenary Brownie
Challenge-Malaysia 2010.
The five-day international event, was held in Kuala Lumpur since Wednesday in
conjunction with the anniversary celebration of 100 years of world girl guiding.
There were 600 participants from Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Sudan and Brunei.
