M`SIA WELCOMES SHARING OF KNOWLEDGE IN SMART COMUNITY CONCEPT WITH JAPAN, SAYS MINISTER
PUTRAJAYA, Dec 22 (Bernama) -- Malaysia welcomes the transfer of knowledge,
assistance and expert advice from the Japanese experts not only in the Smart
Community concept, but also in other fields in green technology.
Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Peter Chin Fah Kui
said initially, Japan, who initiated the smart community concept, had agreed to
work together to develop action plans for Putrajaya and Cyberjaya as pioneer
townships in Green Technology by 2025.
"I was made to undertstand that the New Energy and Industrial Technology
Development Organisation (NEDO), which is the secretariat of Japan Smart
Community Alliance (JSCA) and Sumitomi Mitsui Bank Corporation, both of whom I
met in Japan three months ago, have agreed to work together to help us," he
said.
Speaking at the luncheon talk in conjunction with Malaysia-Japan Smart
Community workshop here Tuesday, he said the the Malaysian Government was very
keen in the Smart Community concept that was comparable to the Green Township
concept in Malaysia.
The Japanese government, under its smart community initiatives, had
introduced the concept of smart community , emphasizing on green technology
where the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions were brought to the lowest level while
energy consumption was made as minimum as possible.
