MAS TIES UP WITH KLM

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 22 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and Dutch airline
KLM are set to explore closer links with each other, including, greater
connectivity, better schedules, more choices for customers as well as cost
reduction.

As a natural extension of the current and successful relationship which has
been in place for the past 11 years, the collaboration via the signing of a
Memorandum of Understanding in Shanghai today marks an important milestone for
both national airlines.

"Through this, our customers can benefit with greater connectivity, better
schedules and enhanced products. With closer links, we will also be able to keep
costs down. This will then enable us to pass on the benefits to our customers,"
said MAS Chief Executive Officer, Tengku Azmil Zahruddin in a
statement here, Wednesday.

The agreement today was signed by Azmil and KLM’s Chief Executive, Peter
Hartman.

The MoU with KLM is significant as Malaysia is an ideal transit point for
visitors from Australasia and Europe, Azmil said.

"We hope to be able to sign a definitive agreement soon, so to enable to
further increase the passenger numbers from that region not only to Malaysia but
to our destinations in Australasia," he added.

Commenting on the signing, Hartman said the partnership was an ideal
opportunity to expand the number of Australasian destinations that KLM offers to
its customers.

Both Malaysia Airlines and KLM operate daily Amsterdam-Kuala Lumpur flights.
