NDERSTA UND 1MALAYSIA TO PROSPER IN UNITY, CM TELLS SABAHANS

KOTA KINABALU (Sabah, Malaysisa), Dec 24 (Bernama) -- Sabah Chief Minister
Musa Aman has called on Sabahans to fully understand the 1Malaysia concept and
subscribe to its principles in order to prosper in unity with the rest of the
nation.

He said Sabah, blessed with more than 30 ethnic groups, had always been
committed to upholding unity and promoting acceptance despite its wide
diversity.

"We are able to bridge our differences despite being diverse in terms of
faith and customs, a plus point for Sabah and Malaysia in a challenging and
globalised world.

"Over a year ago, the 1Malaysia concept was introduced and today, it is
evident that 1Malaysia is becoming an integral part of how we communicate in
society and how we respect the strengths of every stakeholder in society," he
said in his Christmas message here.

Musa said Malaysia was a true model of how people from different religions
and ethnic groups live side by side, accepting one another and staying united.

"We have continued to find strength in our diversity and this is our unique
feature," he added.

He also called on the people to continue the tradition of visiting one
another during the festive seasons through the open house concept.

"Christmas, too, is an occasion for friends and relatives to visit one
another in the spirit of harmony.

"The warmth that Malaysians are famous for is reflected in the way everyone
is welcomed at open houses and this unique tradition that we share is the basis
for our solidarity," he said.

In celebrating the joyous occasion, Musa also hopes the people will not
forget to give back to society, especially the less fortunate, and to
appreciate the security forces who will be ensuring the country's peace and
security while the people are in festivity.
