MALAYSIA CONFIDENT OF LIFTING AFF SUZUKI CUP
JAKARTA, Dec 28 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian football squad arrived in Jakarta
Monday morning, barely 12 hours after crushing Indonesia 3-0 in AFF Suzuki Cup
first leg final in Kuala lumpur.
Malaysia's squad dubbed "Harimau Malaya" (Malaya Tigers) will take on
Indonesia's "Garuda" squad in what promises to be an intriguing clash at Bung
Karno Stadium on Wednesday.
National coach K. Rajagobal is in confident mood as the Malaysian squad
arrived with a three goal cushion.
"We are here to win the cup. Let's see what happens on Wednesday," he told
reporters on arrival at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Cengkareng.
The Malaysian players expected to do some light training Monday.
Asked about casualties, Rajagobal said the Malaysian squad has injury
concerns.
"Two are down with light injuries. They are the coach and assistant coach,"
he joked before jumping onto the coach to take the squad to their hotel.
The arrival of "Harimau Malaya" squad at Soekarno-Hatta Airport was greeted
with patriotic songs by Malaysian students in Indonesia.
Indonesia has the unenviable task of winning by four goals in the second leg
final to lift AFF Suzuki Cup 2010.
Meanwhile, there is no news on a change in venue of the by organiser Asean
Football Federation (AFF).
AFF had told the All Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) that it would
move the final elsewhere if the crowd rioted.
Indonesian fans rioted at Bung Karno Stadium yesterday by trampling security
fencing after waiting several hours to buy tickets for the final on Wednesday.
