2011 SHOULD BE THE YEAR OF 1MALAYSIA, SAYS MINISTER

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 28 (Bernama) -- The year 2011 should see all Malaysian
re-dedicating themselves on ensuring the philosophy of 1Malaysia in
nation-building is well-promoted based on Rukun Negara (National Principles) and
the Federal Constitution, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Dr
Koh Tsu Koon.

He said it was important to see the true spirit and substance of 1Malaysia
in sustaining harmony, celebrating diversity, and forging unity, based on mutual
respect, inclusiveness and moderation.

"After the launching of the Government Transformation Programme (GTP), the
Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) and the 10th Malaysia Plan in 2010, 2011
would see the continuation of vigorous implementation of all these new
initiatives," he said in his new year message, here Tuesday.

Dr Koh also emphasised that the government leaders and officers must
continue to 'walk the talk' by concrete and concerted delivery and not just
deliberation.

"Equally important is the emphasis on 'Performance Now' by the civil service
to effectively serve the people in accordance with the government's commitment
to always pace 'People First'," he said.

Dr Koh said, all of these initiatives and commitment should be the emphasis
throughout year 2011 as the Year of 1Malaysia.
