YELLOW RIDE TO PROMOTE LTDL
GEORGE TOWN (Penang, Malaysia), Jan 5 (Bernama) -- The northern Kedah state
Youth and Sports department will organise a "Yellow Ride LDTL 2011" to promote
the Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) that starts in Langkawi on Jan 23.
According to state Youth and Sports Department director Abdul Jalil Abdul Rashid
the 10km ride to be held on Jan 15 at Dataran Dewan Ahmad Badawi in Butterworth
would see about 500 riders taking part.
The LTdL that offers RM1 million (US$325,468) as prize money will have 10 stages
comprising a distance of 1,315.6km, compared with the seven stages held last
year.
LTdL Chief Operating Officer Mohamed Salleh said 23 teams have so far confirmed
their participation in the LTdL which would be flagged off by former Prime
Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad at Dataran Helang in Kuah in northern island resort
of Langkawi.
The tour will end at Dataran Merdeka (Independence Square), Kuala Lumpur on Feb 1.
