FLOOD OPERATION ROOM SET UP FOR MSIAN STUDENTS IN QUEENSLAND

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 17 (Bernama) -- The University of Queensland has set up a
flood operation room to assist 2,476 Malaysian students affected by massive
floods in Queensland.

Higher Education Minister Mohamed Khaled Nordin said Malaysian students were
advised to seek help from the operation room and to adhere to the floods safety
guidelines issued by the authorities.

He said 39 Malaysians, including 22 students, were badly affected by the floods
as their properties were damaged.

However, there were no casualties among Malaysians, he said in a statement
Sunday night.

Khaled said the Malaysian Students Department was getting updates on Malaysian
students' condition from University of Queensland, Queensland University of
Technology, Griffith University and University of Southern Queensland besides
the Malaysian Students Council of Queensland and Australian (Masca).

Education attaches Zahari Long and Zaharuddin Shamsuddin are now in Brisbane to
check on the condition of the students.
