MALAYSIAN PM'S WIFE BEGINS VISIT TO OMAN

FROM MUIN ABDUL MAJID

MUSCAT, Jan 17 (Bernama) -- Rosmah Mansor, wife of Malaysian Prime Minister
Najib Razak, arrived here Sunday to begin her four-day visit to Oman.

She was received on arrival at the Muscat International Airport by Oman's Social
Development Minister Dr Sharifa Bint Khalfan Al Yahya'eyah.

Also present to welcome her were the charge d'affaires at the Malaysian embassy
in Muscat, Mohamad Norhisyam Mohamad Yusof, and other embassy
officials.

Accompanied by several members of the Association of Wives of Ministers and
Deputy Ministers (Bakti), Rosmah flew in from Kuching where she had accompanied
Najib on a visit to East Malaysia state of Sarawak.

Rosmah is visiting the sultanate as a guest of the government of Oman, a status
last accorded to a Malaysian dignitary two decades ago when the then Malaysian
King, Sultan Azlan Shah, visited Oman back in 1991.

She was warmly greeted by members of the Malaysian community in Oman when she
arrived at the hotel where she would be staying during her visit to this Gulf
nation which nestles in the southeastern quarter of the Arabian Peninsula.
