MALAYSIA NEEDS YOU, PM'S WIFE TELLS MALAYSIANS IN OMAN
From Muin Abdul Majid
MUSCAT, Jan 18 (Bernama) -- Rosmah Mansor has praised Malaysians here for being
able to contribute to Oman's development, but nonetheless reminded them to come
home at some point in the future.
The wife of Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said the fact that Malaysia
could "export" professionals overseas showed that the country had developed the
right strategies in terms of human capital development.
"But please remember Malaysia. Don't forget to come home because the country
needs you as well," she told a gathering of about 200 Malaysians working and
residing in Oman, at a hotel here Monday night.
The event was organised by the Malaysian embassy in conjunction with Rosmah's
four-day visit to the sultanate as a guest of the government of Oman.
A Malaysian diplomat here said there were about 900 Malaysians in Oman, a Gulf
state located in the southeastern corner of the Arabian peninsula.
Rosmah said they should do their best in undertaking their respective duties and
also strive to maintain the good name of the country.
Rosmah's presence at the event created quite a stir, with the Malaysians taking
the opportunity to shake hands and pose for pictures with her.
Earlier in the day, Rosmah took in the sights of Muscat during a cruise on board
the Fulk Al Salamah (Ship of Peace) that belongs to the Ruler of Oman, Sultan
Qaboos bin Said.
It is learned that it was very rare for the Omani monarch to consent to the
136m-long yacht being used to carry guests from outside the Omani royal family.
The food served during the two-hour cruise off the coast of Muscat came from the
palace, according to an official.
