NINE KILLED, TWO INJURED IN YALA ATTACK
BANGKOK, Jan 26 (Bernama) – Nine hunters were killed and two others
seriously injured in a bomb attack at Yaha district in Yala province Tuesday.
Yaha police spokesman said a homemade bomb was detonated remotely as the
pick-up carrying them was passing through Padaeru Village in Yaha at 5.45pm.
Seven of them died at the scene while the other two hunters died at Yaha
District Hospital.
Their identities have yet to be ascertained. The hunters are from Sabayoi
district in Songkhla province.
"The explosion was so powerful that the pick-up split into two," said the
spokesman.
The spokesman believed the insurgent might have targeted the security
officers and thought the pick-up was carrying security officers as the hunters
carried guns.
Last Wednesday, insurgents attacked an Army Task Force Camp in Rangae
district, Narathiwat and shot dead four soldiers and wounded six others before
escaping with about 20 firearms.
