INVEST KL EXPECTED TO BE SET UP NEXT MONTH
PUTRAJAYA, Jan 27 (Bernama) -- Invest KL, an agency aimed at attracting foreign investments, is expected to be set up next month when all personnel required for the agency are recruited.
Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin said it would be placed under the jurisdiction of the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority (MIDA) and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and the agency would be reporting directly to him, the Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI) Mustapa Mohamed, and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Idris Jala.
"Invest KL is targeting to woo 100 leading companies in the world within 10 years to set up their operations here and we have already managed to get four companies so far.
"So, when we have created the excitement, they are attracted and some have come to enquire about investing here although Invest KL has yet to be set up officially," he told reporters, here Wednesday.
In another development, Raja Nong Chik said garbage management in the Klang Valley (Kuala Lumpur and its surrounding areas) was expected to see an improvement when the privatisation agreement with the relevant party was finalised this year.
He said the matter was now being discussed at the level of the Housing and Local Government Ministry and the Prime Minister's Department.
