Interior has issued a statement saying that all categories of Saudi society have become cognizant of the plans of targeting the youth that the deviant group is using in exploiting religious passions and distorting the youth’s sound disposition and pure belief and thenrecruiting them to achieve their suspicious goals.
This was evident through the reporting families, particularly fathers, mothers and wives have made to the number allocated for such cases (990). The families were asking the concerned authorities to help their sons and relatives either by having qualified Ulema clarify the facts and uncover the misconceptions promoted by the deviant group or by reporting their sudden disappearance so that the security authorities work to return them back before they reach places of sedition and unrest, then cooperate with the families to lead their sons and relatives to the correct path in addition to making every effort to rectify the beliefs of those who have been deceived and found themselves in places of unrest, only to become aware of the intention of making them fuel for sedition and acommodity that can be bought and sold.
In this context, the security authorities dealt with the following cases: First: A citizen from Rabeigh Province contacted (990) expressing desire to surrender himself to the security bodies. He said that he had takferi misconceptions after frequenting internet sites. Such misconceptions made him develop convictions that might lead him to commit dangerous acts. He felt that reporting to the concerned authorities was the right thing. Religious specialists and psychologists were assigned to advice him, refute the misconceptions, and clarify the invalidity of such misconceptions in accordance withthe special program implemented with the participation of his family.
Second: Three citizens reported to the concerned authorities the sudden travel of their sons to participate in what they claim to be 'Jihad'. The authorities immediately tracked their travel movement and coordinated with the concerned bodies in the states which they crossed. They were all caught at an airport where they were about to travel to their destination along with a fourth person accompanyingthem and having the same inclinations.
The cooperation of their relatives with the security authorities had a direct impact on saving them quickly, identifying those who deceived them and enrolling them in the proper programs that help explain the facts to them and reveal the falsehood of themisconceptions they had.
Third: A citizen reported that he received a call from a person residing abroad, informing him that he found the citizen's son who was absent since 1427H when he was only 16-year-old at the time. The man also said that the son was in a bad condition and hd forged documents through which he was trying to return home. Following coordination with security authorities, the son was able to return home. Immediately after returning, the father handed over the son to the concerned authorities. The son stated that he had left the Kingdom using his brother's passport after being affected by deviantthoughts and video clips available on the Internet.
Upon arrival in a troubled area, he was asked to carry out a suicide operation but hesitated. Therefore, he was held in custody by these groups. He went through a difficult experience and his psychological and health condition worsened. He then returned to homeland and was enrolled to a special program with the cooperation of his family. His family's wise behavior will be taken into account when consideringhis case.
Fourth: A wife of a person who traveled to take part in what he claimed to be 'Jihad' contacted a Sheikh who, in turn, contacted the husband after coordinating with the security authorities. His returnto the homeland was facilitated. He expressed regret for what he did.
He discovered the falsehood of the claims promoted by the deviant groups. He was reunited with his family and will join the appropriateprogram in cooperation with his family.
The Interior Ministry hails the citizens' initiatives and care for their sons and relatives. It urges everyone to expedite reporting the sudden absence of their relatives or the shift in their attitudes and tendencies, so that the concerned bodies will be able to keep them away from being exploited by hostile groups to harm their religionand homeland and endanger their lives.
