Airline rout between Basra, UAE inaugurated

Basra (NINA) – The Emirates Airline Company inaugurated on Wednesday, Feb. 2, its first flight between Basra and the United Arab Emirates after 35 years of stoppage, when an Airbus 330 liner landed in Basra International Airport amid a ceremony attended by Iraqi and UAE officials.



The manager of Basra International Airport, Abdul Ameer Ghanim Muttar, told NINA the Emirates Airlines inaugurated today an airway route connecting Basra and the United Arab Emirates when the first flight landed carrying 200 passengers of different Arab and foreign nationalities.



He added, “Today’s flight is the first of four weekly flights. The ceremony was attended by the Governor of Basra, Shiltagh Aboud, and the Executive Manager of the Emirates Airlines, Adel Ridha.”



He added, “The Emirates Airline has opened an office in Basra to manage the flights.”



For his part, Governor Aboud said, “This event reflects both sides’ interests in to establish mutual cooperation.” He invited the UAE business to come and invest and participate in the province’s construction.”
