Maliki orders 50% reduction in his salary
Baghdad (NINA) – Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki issued instructions reducing his monthly salary by 50%.
A statement to the press issued on Friday, Feb. 4, said that Maliki instructed the Prime Minister’s Financial Advisor to, “Reduce my salary as a Prime Minister by 50% as from the current month; and having the difference returned to the state budget. Being a contribution in reducing the difference among state employees and help lower the gap between various sectors of society. This comes along with Parliament’s debate of the State’s Federal Budget.”
