Qatar to Host 17th Arab Inter Parliamentary Union (AIPU) Conference

Doha, February 06 (QNA) - Under the patronage of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Qatar will host on Monday and Tuesday the 17th Arab Inter Parliamentary Union (AIPU) Conference with the participation of Arab parliaments' heads and a number of international and regional organizations.
Advisory Council's Secretary General Fahd bin Mubarak Al Khayareen said in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the conference will discuss topics related to the Arab Parliamentary Union, including the current Arab situation and the Arab parliamentarians' role in restoring and enhancing the Arab solidarity as well as ensuring the internal stability of all Arab countries.
The conference agenda will also discuss ways of promoting democracy and protecting human rights for sustainable development in the Arab world, besides a number of topics and reports, Al Khayareen said.
A Chairman, Deputy and Secretary General of the Union will be elected during the conference, he noted, adding that they will also listen to interventions from Heads of parliaments, councils, delegations and representatives of organizations.
The Committee of Political Affairs and Parliamentary Relations and the Committee of Women and Children Affairs will hold meetings during the conference to acknowledges the final resolutions and statement, Al Khayareen concluded.(
