AL-MADINAH UNIVERSITY OFFERS SPOTS TO STUDENTS FROM AL-AZHAR



KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 8 (Bernama) -- The Al-Madinah International University
(MEDIU) is offering spots to students from Egypt's Al-Azhar University to allow
them to continue their studies following political unrest in Egypt.

MEDIU Rector Prof Dr Mohammad Khalifa Al-Tamimi presented the offer letter
to Higher Education Minister Mohamed Khaled Nordin Monday.

MEDIU Public Relations Division chief Jamaluddin Hussain in a statement to
Bernama said in the letter, Prof Dr Mohammad Khalifa stated the offer which will
consist of an online learning system and conventional learning system in
complete world-class classrooms located in Plaza Masalam, Shah Alam.

About 90 per cent of the module for MEDIU's Islamic studies is taken from
the Al-Azhar University and most of its lecturers are from the Middle East and
South Asia, who use Arabic as the medium of instruction, he said.

The university's lecturers are also doctorate holders from Al-Azhar
University, Madinah Islamic University, Jordan Islamic University, local
universities and several renowned universities, he added.
