UAE'S AJMAN RULER TO RECEIVE IIUM AWARD

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama) - Sheikh Humaid Rashid Al-Nuami, a member of
the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates, will be conferred the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration (Human Capital Development) by the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM).
Its Rector Prof Dr Syed Arabi Idid said the Ruler of Ajman would
receive the award during a special convocation on Feb 14.
He said it would be presented by Sultan of Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah who is IIUM's Constitutional Head.
Dr Syed Arabi said the selection was based on Sheikh Humaid's contribution to the society, welfare, culture and education of UAE and the Islamic world.
He said the ruler's international contribution was the main factor in the selection as he had established "Human Appeal Organisation" which provides various types of humanitarian supports to the poor and the needy in UAE and helps many refugees in Africa, Asia and Europe.
Syed Arabi said that IIUM hoped that the conferment would open up
opportunity for IIUM to explore various potentials, especially in UAE's higher education sector.
"For now we have only seven UAE students enrolled in IIUM out of 4,800
international students," he said.
