GCC Secretary General Hails HH the Emir Support for Qatari Women Role
Seoul (QNA) - HE GCC Secretary General Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al Attiyah hails HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani's support for women, saying that HH is paying a great interest to the role of women as a key partner in the community.
The issue of GCC and Korean women's role and participation in the community was a prominent title in the GCC Days events.
Al-Attiyah also praised the support of HH Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser, Chairperson of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development for the Qatari women.
He pointed to the policies and legislation issued in the State of Qatar which emphasized the role of the Qatari woman and her right to vote and stand in municipal elections since 1999, as well as her representation in ministerial positions.
The GCC woman had played a prominent role in the renaissance of the society and has made achievements in various fields in a record time, the GCC Secretary General said, adding that she has assumed high leadership positions and has become an important part of the development process in her country.
