Iraqi President Talabani, US Ambassador review political and security status

Baghdad (NINA) – President Jalal Talabani discussed on Thursday night, Feb. 10, with the US Ambassador to Iraq, James Jeffrey, bilateral relations and means of expanding them in service of both peoples' interests.

A statement from Talabani office said that during his reception to the US official, Talabani stressed the necessity of mutual work to enhance long-term friendship bonds between both countries and to strengthen the foundations of stability, development, and the democratic march.

The statement said that the president reviewed the "development of the political and security status in Iraq," pointing out that "terror will not stop Iraqis from their march towards stability, construction, and progress."

For his part, the US ambassador renewed his country's support to Iraq, reiterating the US president's solidarity for the Iraqi people in political, economic, and other domains in a way that develops cooperation between both countries.
