SECOND OPS PIRAMID IF SITUATION IN EGYPT GETS WORSE

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 12 (Bernama) -- The government will consider launching a second 'Ops Piramid' if the situation in Egypt deteriorates further, said the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Jamil Khir Baharom.

The government was now monitoring the situation concerning Malaysian students who had opted to continue to stay in the troubled country, he said at a media conference, here Friday.

The Ops Piramid was launched by the Malaysian government to evacuate Malaysian nationals and students who were stranded in Egypt, to Jeddah and subsequently brought back to Malaysia following the disturbing developments in Egypt.

The first batch was brought home last Monday.

To date, a total of 4,281 Malaysian nationals have been brought back from Egypt, including 451 who arrived at the KL International Airport (KLIA) on the Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH8031 at 2.20 Friday morning.
