Qatar invites the international community to eradicate poverty
New York, February 12 (QNA) - The State of Qatar has confirmed that it has fulfilled its obligations towards the achievement of national, social and economic development, thanks to the wise leadership of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani.
Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations HE Ambassador Nasser bin Abdul-Aziz Al-Nasser said in a statement delivered at the 49 the Session of the Commission for Social Development on agenda item 3 (a), entitled "extreme poverty" that, thanks to the wise leadership of the Emir many accomplishments have been achieved in the field of national and social development.
He said Qatar embarked on carrying out a comprehensive review in 2008 from which resulted in the Qatar National Vision 2030 which is based on the key pillars to achieve the Millennium Development Goals, including those based on the advancement of the social development to enable the Qatari people to maintain a coherent and strong family receiving support, care and social protection.
