CCTV TO MAKE LANGKAWI SAFE DESTINATION
LANGKAWI, Malaysia, Feb 14 (Bernama) -- A network of 16 closed circuit TV
systems has been installed to make this island resort a safe destination.
President of the Langkawi Municipal Council Abdul Rahman Salleh said Monday the
installation of the CCTV at an estimated cost of RM2 million (US$654,886) was
financed by the Housing and Local Government Ministry under the "safe city"
programme.
Strategic locations had been chosen for the CCTV, including Pasir Tengkorak,
Padang Matsirat town, the Cenang and Kok beaches, Taman CHOGM, the Kuah jetty
and the council office.
This network complements the CCTV system that the police had installed, financed
by the Langkawi Development Authority.
