Prime Minister Opens Doha Jewellery & Watches Expo
Doha, February 14 (QNA) - HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani opened this evening the 8th edition of the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition at the Doha Exhibition Centre.
The opening ceremony was attended by a number of their excellencies sheikhs, ministers, heads of diplomatic missions and businessmen.
HE the Premier and Foreign Minister toured the various pavilions of the Exhibition, where he was briefed by exhibitors of the world renowned brands.
The expo being organized by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) continues until February 20.
Following the opening ceremony, Chairaman of Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) Ahmed Al Nuaimi stressed in press statement QTA ongoing efforts to develop such activities and events, in order to activate tourism exhibitions and business in Qatar, saying Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition is one of the most important exhibitions in the region, and that QTA is seeking to develop it annually.
Al Nuaimi said that more than 300 companies of owners of prestigious and renowned brands in the world of watches and jewelry from Qatar and the region and the countries of the world are showcasing thier products, pointing to increasing number of exhibitors for this year by 20 per cent compared with last year.
He expected that the exhibition with the participation of companies from Europe, America and various world countries would witness a large turnout of visitors and shoppers, especially from the GCC states.
To cater the high demand from exhibitors to showcase their work, the exhibition space is increase by 15% to a total of more than 12,000 square metres.
QTA is committed to promoting the State of Qatar as a first-rate destination for business, industry conferences, cultural events, education, sports and leisure, and provides world-class amenities and services.
