Sail The Gulf: Three Women Sailor's in Qatar's Squad
Doha, February 15 (QNA) - Three women sailors feature in Qatar's squad of 20 vying for top honours in Sail The Gulf event starting at the Doha Sailing Club and Katara Sailing Club here Tuesday.
Maryam Al Sulaiti, Harissa Al Muftah and Alaa Shoudhy are part of the Qatar contingent that will compete in three categories of the five-day event which has entries from 16 countries.
President of Qatar Sailing and Rowing Federation (QSRF) Khalifa Mohammed Al Saweidi said, "We have confirmed entries from Bahrain, Canada, Great Britain, India, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Malaysia, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Oman, Pakistan, Russia and the UAE."
Czech Republic, Norway, Kyrgyzstan and Sweden are participating for the first time.
"A total of 152 sailors will be seen in action and the number of boats will be 132. Judges from Thailand, China, Turkey, Singapore, Bahrain and Korea will supervise the races," he added.
