Call to Boost Private Sector's Role in Sustainable Development

Doha, February 16 (QNA) - A strong private sector would make significant contribution towards sustainable development and further spur growth of the national economy, HE Minister of Business and Trade Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Jassim Al Thani said here Wednesday.
A vibrant private sector would enhance the State's role in creating a favourable environment for investments and increasing production efficiency, he said.
The minister emphasised the role of private sector during a meeting with the chairman and members of Qatari Businessmen Association today.
Talks during the meeting mulled ways to enhance the private sector's contribution to the economy and addressing the challenges it faces to encourage more participation.
To this objective, an exchange of ideas between the ministry and the association was crucial to encouraging the private sector, attracting foreign investments as per the Qatar National Vision to achieve good results, said HE Sheikh Abdulaziz.
The private sector could play a key role not only in increasing production and services, but in innovation and excellence while creating employment opportunities as well, he added.
In response , the Qatari businessmen voiced their complete preparedness to play a greater role to removing the obstacles impeding the business process and providing their views to resolve them.
