M'sia-India bilateral trade to be much better this year

PUTRAJAYA, Feb 18 (Bernama) -- Malaysia-India bilateral trade is expected to be much better this year than last year with the conclusion of the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA), says Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry Anand Sharma.

Two-way trade between the two countries last year stood at about US$9 billion, an increase of about 17 per cent than in 2009.

Malaysia and India today inked the CECA witnessed by Prime Minister Najib Razak. The CECA will come into force on July 1.

Also present at the signing ceremony was International Trade and Industry Minister Mustapa Mohamed.
