Pemudah facilitates ease of doing business in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 19 (Bernama) -- The Special Taskforce to Facilitate
Business or Pemudah's relentless effort to faciliate ease of doing business in Malaysia has resulted in improved efficiency in a substantial number of related government agencies.
Companies can now be incorporated within a day, a move clearly aimed, at facilitating corporate procedures and creating a vibrant business community.
In addition to successfully adapting to the challenges in improving the competitiveness of Malaysia, Pemudah has also contributed to enhancing Malaysia's position in the annual "World Bank Doing Business" Report.
As a result of these efforts, Malaysia's ranking improved from 23rd placing to 21st in the "Doing Business 2011 Report".
Pemudah said it achieved remarkable improvement in terms of services as initiatives under 1 Day Incorporation, coupled with initiatives by the Malaysia Corporate Identity Number (MyCOID), had successfully reduced time taken to start businesses, at present, to three days and three procedures from 11 days and nine
procedures, previously.
Under the 1 Day Incorporation, documents submitted by 12.00pm, will be processed the same day while submission after noon would be processed the next working day, Pemudah said in its 2010 annual report, launched Friday night by Prime Minister Najib Razak.
The MyCOID concept has also effectively phased out and eliminated various serial numbers assigned by each agency for public dealings and internal references.
Among other efforts by Pemudah was the facilitation and improvement of the Business Licensing Electronic Support System (BLESS), a local centre for time line applications for licences, approvals and permits.
As a result, 45 agencies and 102 licences, approvals and permits were listed under BLESS Phase 1.
On trading across borders, Pemudah said the proposed new time line for tariff approval has now been reduced to three months from between 10 and 20 months, previouly.
The report also said efforts would be made to improve the perception and public confidence in public institutions especially enforcement agencies.
