HARMONISATION OF HAJ RULES CRUCIAL

GEORGE TOWN (Penang, Malaysia), Feb 19 (Bernama) -- The harmonisation of haj
rules is crucial in an effort to erase doubts among pilgrims, said Lembaga
Tabung Haji (Pilgrims Fund Board) group managing director and chief executive
officer Ismee Ismail.

He said the easy access to sources on rules which were not sanctioned with
the authenticity not ratified could undermine the pilgrimage.

What is more alarming is the lack of knowledge which could prevent pilgrims
from being accorded haj "mabrur" (the ultimate haj accepted by the Almighty), he
said a the 27th National Pilgrimage Muzakarah (conference) here today.

Entitled "Knowledge Enhances Haj Mabrur", the three-day muzakarah is
attended by 332 participants from Malaysia and eight from Brunei, Indonesia,
Singapore and Thailand.
