Resettlement areas built for people in flood-prone regions

Hanoi (VNA) - The central province of Binh Dinh has zoned off and built 10 resettlement areas worth over 30 billion VND for people living along the coast to shelter from floods, storms and flood tide.

Of the resettlement areas, the one in My An commune, Phu My district, covering 4 ha, is home for nearly 200 households. The province also provided3 million VND to each household in support of their resettlement.

Hoai Nhon district zoned off 3 ha for 220 households. So far, 63 householdsbuilt their houses and 97 others received land in the zone.

Up to date, Binh Dinh province has moved 792 households with 3,414 people toresettlement areas.

Also in an effort to help people in flood-prone areas to move to safe places, the Prime Minister has decided to inject 20 billion VND from theState budget to northern Phu Tho province.

The sum will be used to build resettlement areas for households affected byflash flood and landslides.
