Police detain 21 Chinese nationals in 'OPS NODA'

GEORGE TOWN (Penang, Malaysia), Feb 22 (Bernama) -- Police today detained 21 Chinese nationals working as guest relations officers (GROs) at an entertainment centre in Pulau Tikus, here.
North-East District Police Chief, ACP Gan Kong Meng said all the women, who were in their 20's, were detained during an operation code-named 'Ops Noda' which ended at about 5am.
"During the 'Ops Noda', police also detained a local man who is believed to be the caretaker at the entertainment centre," he told reporters here.
He said the entertainment centre, which was installed with an iron grill and tightly monitored by 'tontos', had been raided on several occasions previously.
"Preliminary investigation revealed that all the women had valid travel documents but they had abused their social visit pass by working as GROs and believed to have offered sexual services to their clients," he said.
