CASANOVA SWINDLES SIX VICTIMS OF SOME US$19,000

By Mohd Faizal Hassan

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 22 (Bernama) -- Blessed with good looks, the man whispered
sweet nothings to an unsuspecting woman's ear, promising her a matrimonial
union made in heaven.

Three months into their intimate relationship, the man who claimed to be
working in the advertising industry, would lament he was in dire financial
straits.

Believing that marriage was on the cards, the love-struck woman would
willingly hand over the money to the man of her dreams.

This is all the cue the casannova needs to fly the coop -- and perch on the
next unsuspecting love-starved damsel.

As it turns out, the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) Public Complaints
Bureau has received six reports from victims against the conman who has so far,
fleeced them of over RM60,000 (US$19,355), between last July and early this
year.

One of the victims is a man...but that's another story!

According to bureau chief, Michael Chong, the casanova had identified
himself as 'Ken Isaac', via a social networking website before establishing
personal relations with his intended victims.

He said the man who claimed to be working in the advertising industry and
owned a company, had also asked the victims to have sexual relations with him.

"The man had used similar tactics on the victims and disappeared with their
money, following a three-month relationship," added Chong.

It is learnt that the police had initially managed to track down the man in
Damansara near here, but he gave them the slip.

Chong said the bureau had received 22 similar complaints, involving losses
amounting to RM1.6 million, over the past four years.

He said two of the 'casanovas' in those cases were serving jail terms.
